eXist is a lightweight XML database that supports fulltext search. It has two backends, one native and one using an RDBMS. The query language implemented is XPath. eXist provides an HTTP interface, an XML-RPC interface, and also implements the XML:DB Java API. eXist uses SAX to import XML documents.
