The Tolkien Companion: J.E.A Tyler

The Palantíri is a private mailing list of friends, aspiring writers, artists, hackers, and even a professional opera singer. We are all brought together by our enthusiasm and adoration for the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien. This group of "seeing-stones", (a metaphor for our Internet connections that allow us to communicate with each other across the globe just as the users of the Palantíri were able to do) has been in existence since the late 1980's.

We have begun a new idea which we call the Palantíri Ring. Each Palantíri with a web page is linked to all the others in a continuous ring. Selecting the link at the bottom of this page will take you to the next Palantíri's web page in line. You can thus, in time, get a chance visit all of us, and get a small taste of the world-wide communal spirit that the Internet provides us all.
